Green-fingered residents are being urged to get planting as the ‘Alleyways in Bloom’ competition returns for its 11th year.
The competition asks residents, who have anti-burglary alley gates installed behind their properties, to come collectively with neighbours to develop their alleyway and enhance their neighbourhood.

In previous years residents have converted rundown or vandalised alleyways by placing potted plants and floral decorations, creating communal areas for their entire street to enjoy.
All admissions will receive a visit from the burglary reduction officer who will take pictures to be judged during July/August.
The winner will get a £50 garden voucher, and the runner-up will be given a £25 voucher.
Residents interested in registering the competition should contact the council’s burglary reduction officer on 01706 924687 before Friday 6 July.
