Bowlee Car Boot Sale & Collectors’ Market – one of the most popular in Greater Manchester – returns in March, with organisers Rochdale Borough Council promising the hugely popular country park event will be better than ever.
The 2018 season at Bowlee Community Park in Middleton begins on Sunday 25 March and then runs every Sunday until 19 August.
On Bank Holiday weekends in April and May, the event will be held on the Monday (2 April, 7 and 28 May). As always there’s no need to book, just turn up, and the events run from 7am to 1.30pm. (6.15am for sellers)
Improvements for the 2018 season include extra entrances for buyers/sellers to alleviate queues at peak times and better on-site signage. Last year the council completed a £12,000 refurbishment of customer toilets located in The Pavillion.
Councillor Neil Emmott, the cabinet member for housing and environment, said it’s a trusted event, run by the council: “I am pleased to see this event returning to Bowlee Community Park for its ninth year.
The crowds are always fantastic and we are looking forward to another busy season. We’ve been listening to customers and you will notice some improvements on site this season. We’re also going to put a stop to frustrating last-minute cancellations due to poor weather and make sure any decisions on cancelling are always taken the day before.
I’m confident that bargain hunters will be out in force again, and if it’s time for a de-clutter you can easily offload your quality unwanted possessions in exchange for cash. As always, there will be a huge range of goods available.”
The new prices for selling are – £15 for cars, £20 for small vans/people carriers/4X4s and £25 for large vans and above.
For buyers, there are spaces for over 1,200 cars in Bowlee Park at £2.50 per vehicle.
Last year the events attracted around 5,000 buyers and 200 sellers a week.
