Brooklyn based writer, producer and vocalist tara-bridget is back with alt-pop offering ‘She’s so cool’. Receiving praise from the likes of V Magazine, who referred to her as ‘indie’s next rising star’, Women That Rock Press, Quadio, and UK FM Radio, it’ll come at no surprise that tara-bridget is certainly turning heads within the industry. With just under 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify alone and just under 1.5 million streams on the streaming platform, tara-bridget is known for her adventurous pop music.

What comes first, lyrics or music?

Lately I’ve been leaning toward music first and letting the lyrics come and write themselves over that later, although I try to do it differently every time until an idea is screaming at me. As a writer, its still often hard to sit down and jot something both beautiful and lyrical without the music there.

How do you transfer that onstage energy to the studio?

I haven’t played a whole lot of live sets! Its such a feeling that, when it does happen, I really try to nourish it and keep it hard in mind when actually sitting down to record. Studio time to me is tranquil and safe

What other talents do you have?

My dad taught me how to yodel when I was a kid! Helps when you want to single along to Zombies by The Cranberries. Gets me a lot of points at parties too. I’ve tried to teach my friends how to yodel…

If you could open for any band / artist/ solo artist who would it be.

I think I may sound like a broken record with the amount I talk about her, but to share a stage with BEA1991 would be… wow! Just to see her live and know her! I have such a respect for who she is as an artist, producer, creator, all of the above.

What was the last track you played on Spotify?

A.M. 180 by Grandaddy. Its been on repeat.

If you could collaborate with any producer / person who would it be?

I always think of Melody Prochet’s talent, so effortlessly emotive in production. Imagining her paired with, like, Solange. Imagine the dance production… That would be something beautiful. Maybe they should collaborate.

What’s the scene like where you are from?

In Brooklyn, it’s always shows, it’s loud, it’s in everyone and everything. I grew up around people just wanting to go out and dance whether that was highschool indie band shows or secret raves or the shows at the hundreds of venues in the borough alone. There’s a competitiveness for music and artistry here, which comes with the territory. It’s more about how you approach that as an artist, what’s important to you as creator and as a person. The music scene in New York has brought me so many friends and experiences.

What other bands do we need to be checking out right now?

Oh jeez, I could go on. I’m big into Sir Chloe right now and IDLES… just amazing musicians they are. Also, Coco and ClairClair are super cool
