Introduce yourself in less than 10 words…..
I am an artist that wants to connect with you.
What made you want to get into music?
I grew up with a family of musicians and singers. My father is a producer, musician and performer who taught me everything & my mother was a writer, singer and performer as well- I was always watching them from behind the stage- it’s in my blood!
What’s the writing process?
My writing process depends on where I am and I who I’m with. I usually just flow and read the energy of the room and whoever’s with me. I write from the heart, from my own experiences or I like to conceptualize and create a story.
How do you transfer that onstage energy to the studio?
Performing and recording are two different things. When I’m on stage I’m focused on giving a show, when I’m in the studio I’m focusing on the delivery and making sure the emotion is being captured. I love both but I’m two different characters on stage and in the studio. The energy is completely different but not the opposite- recording is more intimate, on stage I’m focused on making sure the crowd is getting the best performance I can give!
What come first lyrics or music?
Music and lyrics are never on a schedule. Sometimes as I’m hearing the first chords the words and melodies develop, sometimes I like to vibe out to the actual music before anything.
What has been the best gig you’ve ever played and why?
the best gig I’ve ever had was when I promoted the hell out of a local show and literally almost all of my friends came to support it was about 50 people that showed up for me! It was insane. I felt so much love.
What would be on your rider?
my rider would be – Water, fruit & cheese, Pickles, Coffee & Grabba is a must! lol
What other talents do you have? (kazop playing, champion toast burner…._
I love to paint. That’s a passion of mine. I love expressing myself through other avenues other than music. I’m pretty good at it but I know I can always improve. It’s more of a release.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
The best advice I’ve ever been given is to never let anyone take away your light or change your character. You are powerful enough to stay in your light!
Talk us through the new track / video
My latest release off my upcoming project is called “Free Zone” – this is one of my favorite records ever. Everyone’s free zone is different- for me it’s when I’m in my room or studio alone just creating in something comfortable. Where I lose all my inhibitions and feel like I can do anything. That’s the exact setting where I actually made the record! It can be a mental, physical or emotional place. I wanted the visual to be a contrast between how we’re supposed to act & how we really are. We’re all creatures who are all so different and complex but so similar at the same time. So it’s a contrast between the place you are and the place you go when no one is there. I’m so happy to be releasing a video with this song I’m excited for everyone to see it!
