Jade Moss made her name as a fearless entrepreneur in the world of fashion and textiles and her music career looks to continue the trend, wowing audiences with her mix of nostalgia, glamour and attitude.

Her new single, Hey Babe, talks about true love in a disposable and shallow world and about meeting someone new and making it clear to be careful how they play their cards when they have a queen in their hands. Wrapped up in a sound which blends classic, sultry jazz with pop and trip-hop, it’s the perfect introduction to an artist who never takes ‘no’ for an answer.

Please introduce yourself in less than 10 words…..

Earthy, flamboyant , creative, nostalgic, bossy, strong, determined, deep, philosophical & funny.

What made you want to get into music?

I was always able to sing from a young age, but when I wasn’t interested in it then. I was more concerned with being an entrepreneur and building my fashion brand. After I had my daughter-Blue I started writing and it was so therapeutic and for the first time something just felt right, a really freeing feeling, so i ventured forward on my musical journey.

What come first lyrics or music?

Lyrics with a melody in my head. It can literally be anyplace anytime! Always in the shower or bath! Even more strangely all my melody’s and lyrics come in a sort of jazzy 1930s-40s sound then I usually jump out of shower or bath to record on my phone before I loose it!

What was the last track you played on Spotify?

Hurts -it’s a wonderful life

What other talents do you have?

I was a fashion designer before music for over 12 years with 2 boutiques and a factory, now I take centre stage in a completely different field. But more importantly I make a mean Yorkshire pudding.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

I have always been really keen to work with Mark Ronson (who’s worked with Miley Cyrus, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars) as I believe he would create something very interesting and original, from my authentic vintage lyrics and voice.

Whats the best advice youve ever been given?

Don’t take any of this too seriously, we don’t get out of here alive!

Whats in store for you when all this is over?

My EP release is in April and I’m really excited to see how people react to it. I’m also excited to do my surreal, plastic fantastic music video for one of my tracks – Only You, which I can’t wait for everyone to see.

How are you coping with lockdown?

It’s not been too bad, I’ve been pottering around the house and planting plants on my balcony. Me and my daughter, Blue, have been going for lots of walks, and I’ve been cooking a lot and being really quite greedy eating lots of yummy food!

How is lock down effecting the music scene?

I think it’s been a double edged sword- it’s obviously been quite good for online platform streaming, but it’s really knocked live performance, touring, festivals etc for six. I long for the days to get back on the stage again!
