Christmas has come early for 16 year old Sana Ahmad from Rochdale.

The Redwood School pupil’s design was chosen for council Chief Executive Steve Rumbelow’ s official card after winning a festive design competition.

Mr Rumbelow invited local schools to enter the competition and Sana’s design, featuring a colourful Christmas tree surrounded by gifts, was chosen.

Her design has just been made into a professionally printed card as well as an animated electronic version with twinkling tree-lights to be distributed by email.

This week Steve Rumbelow visited Redwood School to meet Sana and present her with one of the first new cards, a £50 gift voucher and some chocolates for her classmates. He said he was very impressed with Sana’s design:

“I wanted to do something a little different for this year’s card so asked local schools to help come up with some ideas. We have some budding creatives in our schools, and I received some really inspiring designs. Sana’s colourful tree on a bright white background was a piece of art, a modern take on a traditional scene which has helped make a lovely card.”

Congratulations Sana on winning the competition from the Northern Revive Team.
